Blogs featuring Instructional Design & Technology


Experience e-Learning is a blog written by Christy Tucker who is “an instructional designer developing online learning”. Christy's blog is about “Building Engaging Learning Experiences through Instructional Design and E-Learning”. She writes about her discoveries: what works, what doesn’t, and what she is thinking. Christy’s series of articles on the “Best of Experiencing E-Learning” is very intuitive and informative. The articles gives a good overview on the ways an instructional designer can impact e-learning.

The eLearning Coach is a website by Connie Malamed. The site offers “tips and reviews for success with online and mobile learning”. Connie Malamed is “an eLearning, information and visual designer, with a master’s degree in Instructional Design & Technology and many years of experience in the trenches”. The eLearning Coach is where Connie shares actionable strategies, practical content, product reviews and resources to help you design, develop and understand online learning. She has written a book, “Visual Language for Designers”, it explains how to design for the human mind— a topic Connie says is very important in eLearning”. Connie Malamed website is loaded with instruction design aids and tools. The site has many examples of strategic information and quality control information to aid the instructional designer.

The Rapid E-Learning Blog is hosted by Tom Kuhlmann who is “passionate about learning and technology”. Tom has over “fifteen years’ experience in the training industry where he has developed hundreds of hours of eLearning and managed eLearning projects at Capital One, Washington Mutual, and Weyerhaeuser”. Tom has a “Master’s in Education Technology from Pepperdine, where he researched how to cultivate communities of practice through the development of personal expertise”. Tom’s blog has multiple examples of how he expertly employs Microsoft PowerPoint to create effective learning experiences. The site has numerous freely available templates and tutorials to aid the instructional designer.
